According to the Spanish publication La Tribuna de Automoción, the Chinese Geely has reached an agreement to purchase an assembly line at the Ford plant in Valencia (Spain), Carscoops reports.
It is assumed that the Geely EX2 multi-hybrid car based on the GINA (Global Intelligent New Energy Architecture) architecture will be produced using the equipment of the Ford plant.
The EX2 is a 4.13m long compact electric crossover offering 30.1kWh and 40.1kWh batteries and a CLTC range of up to 410km. According to unofficial data, Ford may also get its own version of the car on the same platform – a potential successor to the Puma model.
Ford gave a cautious comment: “We are constantly negotiating with many companies. Nothing is completed.” Geely Europe declined to comment, but industry sources believe the deal is almost final.
