Smart will present the Concept #2 concept car, which is the spiritual successor to the legendary two-seat urban electric car ForTwo, discontinued in 2024.

The prototype will premiere at the Beijing Auto Show on April 22, 2026. The new product will retain the recognizable silhouette of the original, but will receive wider wheel arches and a signature front design in the style of modern Smart models (#1, #3, #5).

Concept #2 will be noticeably smaller and likely cheaper than Model #1, while remaining a full-fledged electric car and not an ultra-budget model like the Citroen Ami.

The concept features a two-tone matte white/warm gold theme with elements inspired by fashion accessories. Smart emphasizes that the brand is positioned as a manufacturer of premium electric vehicles.

CEO Tong Xiangbei has previously acknowledged that creating a truly compact electric car on the new platform is more difficult than a larger car due to the need to fit batteries and safety systems into very limited space.

At the Beijing Auto Show, the concept will be shown along with the #6 EHD sedan, created for the Chinese market by the Mercedes-Benz Global Design team and reminiscent of the cheaper Mercedes EQE.
