Traveling by motorcycle is a serious challenge. The bike must allow you to travel thousands of kilometers, travel 130 km/h on the highway, go through mountain passes and carry a passenger with luggage. Here are Topspeed’s top ten best touring bikes for the trip.
The list opens with the Suzuki GSX-S1000GX. It is equipped with electronically adjustable suspension, cruise control, 6.5-inch TFT display with navigation, electronic throttle. Engine – I4 with a volume of 999 cm³, power 152 hp, torque 106 Nm.
Next up is the BMW R 1300 GS Adventure. It has a huge fuel tank, electronic suspension, TFT instrument panel and an automatic transmission is available. The 1300 cm³ boxer engine produces 145 hp. and 149 Nm.
The third position is occupied by the BMW R 18 Transcontinental. Flagship “tourist” with the largest BMW boxer engine (1802 cm³), 91 hp. and 163 Nm of torque. Disadvantage: Frequent checks of valve clearances.
Fourth on the list is the BMW K 1600 GTL. It has the world’s only production inline 6-cylinder engine: 160 hp. and 180 Nm. The motorcycle is equipped with cornering headlights, keyless start, TFT screen, self-leveling suspension.
The Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally rounds out the top five. Analogous to the R 1300 GS with a huge fuel tank and full power accessories. The 1158 cm³ V4 engine produces 170 hp. and 123 Nm.
Next up is the Indian Roadmaster PowerPlus. The bike has liquid cooling, a 7-inch TFT display, keyless start, remotely lockable saddlebags, and tire pressure monitoring. V2 engine with a volume of 1835 cm³ – 122 hp. and 174 Nm.
The seventh place is occupied by the Honda Gold Wing Tour DCT Airbag. Segment leader in reliability. Equipped with the world’s only 7-speed DCT transmission with reverse gear, navigation, and optional airbag. Boxer 6-cylinder engine: 124.7 hp and 170 Nm.
Eighth is Indian Pursuit Elite. Limited edition with unique paint job, 7″ TFT touch display, full electronics package. The PowerPlus engine (1835 cm³) produces 126 hp. and 180 Nm.
In ninth place is the Harley-Davidson CVO Road Glide. The fairing is fixed to the frame, which improves handling in crosswinds. Engine Milwaukee-Eight VVT 121 (1917 cm³): 115 hp and 189 Nm.
The Harley-Davidson CVO Street Glide Limited completes the rating. New Harley flagship with largest engine (1983 cc), variable valve timing, 12.3-inch TFT touchscreen and six-axis IMU. Power – 115 hp, torque – 189 Nm.
