Toyota and Jaguar Land Rover have registered trademarks for trade in cars in Russia

Information about this appeared in the database of the Federal Institute of Industrial Property (FIPS).

Toyota has patented its corporate logo, and Land Rover has patented the name of the Defender SUV, written in Cyrillic. Both marks passed state registration on April 1, 2026, the exclusive right to them will be valid until the spring of 2034.

Both companies submitted applications for registration back in 2024. Both marks are included in class 12 of the International Classification of Goods and Services (ICGS), which includes cars.

Registration of marks does not mean that manufacturers plan to immediately resume business in Russia. Typically, such actions are aimed at protecting intellectual property and limiting the use of brands by third parties. In March, Toyota already registered a trademark in Russia with the name of the Corolla model.
