Toyota is ready to equip the RAV4 crossover with a 2.4-liter turbo engine. This was reported by Drive with reference to the chief engineer of the development group, Yoshinori Futonagane.
Currently, the most productive modification of the Toyota RAV4 is a rechargeable hybrid. The power plant includes a 2.5 naturally aspirated gasoline engine with a power of 186 hp, an electromechanical variator and an electric motor that drives the wheel.
The total output of the hybrid all-wheel drive system E-Four reaches 329 hp. A traction battery with a capacity of 22.1 kWh provides a pure electric range of 145 to 151 km according to the WLTC standard.
If you believe the statements of Yoshinori Futonagane, then Toyota’s bestseller can try on the engine from Lexus crossovers. In the most productive version, this 4-cylinder unit produces 340 hp.
However, before starting to create a powerful modification of the RAV4, marketers of the Japanese brand will have to assess the market prospects of such a car.
