Driving a car for a long time threatens drivers with serious health problems – from prostatitis to obesity and varicose veins. The chief urologist of the Be Healthy clinic network, Candidate of Medical Sciences Maxim Ryabov told Gazeta.Ru about this.
One of the key problems that the doctor named was poor circulation in the pelvic area. Due to venous stagnation and deterioration of blood flow, the likelihood of developing prostatitis increases, chronic pelvic pain syndrome occurs, and existing prostate diseases can also worsen.
Another negative factor that the urologist spoke about is overheating of the scrotum. It is caused by frequently turning on the heated seats, as well as wearing too warm or tight clothes. For the normal process of sperm maturation, a temperature below the general body temperature is required, so regular overheating can worsen the quality of sperm.
Driving for a long time often causes problems with urination, Ryabov noted. Many drivers tolerate and restrain the urge to empty the bladder, which creates excess stress on the entire urinary system and increases the risk of inflammatory diseases.
In addition, when riding for a long time, the legs remain bent and practically motionless. The blood begins to stagnate, the veins dilate. If a person has a genetic predisposition to varicose veins, then daily trips of many hours will quickly turn a mild tendency into a full-fledged disease with swelling and pain.
The doctor also added that in a stationary position, calories are practically not burned, but are stored in reserve in the form of fat deposits. The result is obesity, which leads to a number of other serious diseases.
