In St. Petersburg Sestroretsk, at the former Hyundai plant under the Solaris brand, they produced the Hyundai Solaris and Hyundai Creta, as well as the Kia Rio and Rio X. According to Vedomosti, in 2026 the company was unable to assemble a single car due to the lack of vehicle kits.
According to some data, in Sestroretsk there were about 70 thousand vehicle kits, prepared some time before the Hyundai concern left Russia. The new Solaris brand began production of the renamed Hyundai and Kia in the spring of 2024.
According to Vedomosti, Russia now has a certain supply of previously assembled Solaris, which may last until the fall of this year. At the same time, the former Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus automobile plant will be loaded with assembling cars of Chinese origin.
Let us remember that Hyundai Solaris became Solaris HS, Hyundai Creta became Solaris HC, and Kia Rio and Rio X changed their names to Solaris KRS and Solaris KRX, respectively. 800 people were involved in the assembly of these machines. The warranty was 3 years or 100 thousand km.
