Vedomosti: Exeed production will be transferred to the AGR plant in St. Petersburg

The AGR holding plans to launch production of Exeed cars at the former GM plant in St. Petersburg. Thus, the assembly of cars of the premium Chery brand will be transferred from the assembly line near Moscow, which previously belonged to Mercedes. Vedomosti reported this with reference to informed sources.

The former GM plant in St. Petersburg also assembles Jeland cars. The enterprise itself in the Shushary industrial zone now belongs to the Russian holding company AGR.

It is important that many workshops (including welding and painting) at the plant, which previously produced Chevrolet and Opel, and then were mothballed for many years, were actually created anew, AGR assures.

The full cycle of technical re-equipment, in which the Chinese company Defetoo took part, took eight months – during this time about 600 containers with equipment were delivered to the site.

As part of the work to restart the conveyor, industrial floors were strengthened, technological lines were updated and new systems were introduced.
