Auto expert Samoilov named two main schemes for imposing services in car services

Unscrupulous car repair shops often impose on car owners unnecessary repairs to the engine, gearbox, steering and electronics, or the replacement of entire components, when one part could be repaired. Dmitry Samoilov, director of partner support for the international Fit Service network, told Gazeta.Ru about this.

“Most often, cheating occurs where it is most difficult for the client to estimate the actual amount of work: in technically complex and hidden units. This includes repairing the engine, gearbox, steering, and complex electronics,” the expert noted.

The specialist noted another common practice of unscrupulous workshops: replacing an assembly unit (for example, a steering rack or generator), although it would be enough to repair one part. At the same time, the client is not told about the cause of the breakdown and is not offered a cheaper option.

Large certified networks, on the contrary, have clear regulations, transparent prices and internal quality control. Samoilov emphasized: big business today is aimed at long-term relationships, and not at one-time benefits. Intentionally overestimating work is not only unethical, but also economically unprofitable – the loss of trust is more expensive than any large bill.
