Auto expert Shumsky: paying for damage at the scene of an accident can result in deprivation of rights

The second participant in the accident, after the “amicable” deal has taken place, can cheat and contact the traffic police. The head of the Probok.net expert center, Alexander Shumsky, spoke about this in a conversation with Motor magazine.

“Any road accident must be documented either by a European protocol or by traffic police officers. According to the law, it is impossible not to register an accident. Theoretically, the biggest risk is that one of the participants may later report that no one paid him anything and he does not agree with anything,” Shumsky said.

In this case, the driver will call the traffic police after the person responsible for the accident has already left. Accordingly, the second participant in the accident will be deprived of his driver’s license for leaving the scene of the accident.

Also among the risks, Shumsky noted that the money left by the culprit may not be enough to repair the vehicle, and it will be difficult to come to an agreement with the second participant in the accident.
