The most transparent form of purchase is in the dealer’s showroom, because you still can’t do without his participation, and only there you can “touch, smell and try on” the car.
In practice, the process of purchasing from an official dealer looks like this: the manager, distracted by other matters, talks for a long time about the shortcomings of the selected configuration, discounts for trade-in and paid options, the insurer convinces of the benefits of extended insurance, and the bank convinces of the loan with penalties for early repayment. Whether it will be possible not to pay for unnecessary services, according to the expert, depends on luck, noted Sergei Zinoviev, an expert at the magazine “Behind the Wheel”.
The second way is to purchase from the factory through the official online storefront. On the manufacturer’s website you can find all the machines available in the selected region. However, minimum configurations are not present everywhere: in one city there is the most affordable version (even without power steering), while in another there is only a more expensive one.
The solution is to track the moment the desired offer appears, select the model, equipment and additional conditions (state program, trade-in, loan). Then the buyer still goes to the dealer to register and receive the car, but the main difference is that the loan and payment can be made on the website without listening to the seller.
The third way is to purchase on the marketplace. The price in the product card is fixed, bargaining is excluded, the car can be delivered to your home (if the seller and buyer are in the same city). However, there are significant disadvantages: you need to pay the full amount immediately with a bank card, then wait 2-3 days for a call from the car dealership manager.
After the call, the manager will first dictate a list of additional equipment and contact the insurer. In addition, it is difficult to find a car in the “minimum configuration” on the marketplace, the specialist noted.
