Next spring, a new model, the Lada Iskra, will hit the assembly line in Togliatti. The assembly line is currently 95 percent complete, Izvestia writes, citing a plant representative. Now bodies for the new product are being assembled there in test mode. The Iskra will be produced in three body types, but the majority will be sedans.
The sedan will account for half of the Iskra’s production volume, and the station wagon and its cross-version will account for 25 percent each. The bodies are going to be stamped from Russian metal. Most parts—70 percent—will be galvanized, including all exterior panels except the roof.
As for the pace of assembly, at first AvtoVAZ intends to produce 30 copies of the model per hour. 11 thousand cars will roll off the assembly line in a month, and 120 thousand in a year.
AvtoVAZ again postponed the start of production of the Lada Iskra It turned out how the Lada Iskra will be better than the Vesta NG sedan Five years of owning a Lada Largus will cost more than the car itself
Granta is assembled much faster: in the first half of 2024 alone, more than 110 thousand units were produced in Togliatti. Automation of production at the start is promised at the level of 25 percent, and then it will be increased to 60 percent.
Iskra will occupy a niche in the Lada line between Granta and the flagship Vesta. The engine range includes 1.6 naturally aspirated engines with a power of 90 and 106 horsepower, paired with a manual transmission and Chinese gearboxes – a six-speed manual and a CVT. Sales will start in the second half of 2025.
