For its decoration, handmade fabric and foil decor have been used, made using traditional technologies that are several hundred years old. So, the rugs are woven from individually colored threads, which allows you to get the desired pattern, and a relief finish from intertwined skin strips has been chosen for the central armrest.
In Japanese, the word Nishiki is called brocade, although the literal translation is “two colors”. Therefore, the BMW X7 Nishiki Lounge concept has a two -tone body: it is painted in the blue BMW Individual Velvet Blue from below, on top – in the silver Space Silver, symbolizing the “splendor of the nebula that shines in the depths of the cosmos”. This is the subject of the concept, and in order to develop it, the Germans turned to the traditional art of weaving.

Floor mats for the concept were made in Kawashima Selcon, founded in 1843. Here they still use manual weaving and individually colored threads-the so-called Kasuri technique, which is characterized by torn, uneven contours of patterns. The central armrest was abandoned with a wicker from strips of skin of various widths with foil decor from Rakugei Kobo. The abstractions on the console and the front panel were made using the Goshiki Gingasane technique using black varnish and several types of foil.
