Chinese auto brands face extinction due to too frequent model updates

This applies to new brands that have recently appeared on the European market, as well as in the UK. Martin Jan, member of the Skoda board of directors responsible for sales and marketing, stated this in an interview with Auto Express.

The top manager announced the inevitable consolidation in the Chinese automobile industry. In his opinion, the existing model, in which about 150 electric vehicle brands are represented in China, is economically unsustainable. Such a large number of brands and the high frequency of new model releases raise doubts about the ability of manufacturers to recoup their investments.

Skoda board member for technical development Johannes Neft, commenting on the situation, noted that the company is closely monitoring Chinese competitors. At the same time, according to him, it is important to maintain a clear identity of the model range. Skoda cars such as the Kodiaq, Superb and Fabia are well recognized and understood by customers, unlike a number of new Chinese brands that lack clear differentiation between models.

Earlier it became known that Lexus would say goodbye to the LC model.
