Development of this car was discontinued in 2024, Carscoops reports.
Images of the model appeared on the social network page of Doug Field, one of the Ford executives.
The company itself clarified that this is a “3-row SUV, which we canceled in 2024,” and is now being used as a research vehicle to develop the future generation of Ford electric vehicles.
It was expected that the production version would have a range of more than 560 km. When using fast charging, the battery could be topped up for 160 km in just 6 minutes. A version with an extended range was also planned, capable of traveling up to 885 km without stopping.
The design of the prototype is not similar to other Ford models: it has an aerodynamic body with a rounded front end, a sloping roof and an almost vertical rear.
The prototype will have a “significant impact” on the company’s future electric vehicles, a Ford spokesperson said, even as Ford has generally adjusted its electrification plans to focus on affordable models, including a $30,000 pickup truck.
