The car belonged to a famous French collector and was in a workshop specializing in classic cars near Naples, Italy. Then the owner died and unknown persons attacked the widow with threats. As a result, the woman sold a small-scale Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale for just €10 with a market price of €30 million. The car immediately disappeared from the radar.
The disappearance of one of the 18 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradales produced is being investigated by Milan police. A unique coupe worth about €30 million was sold for just €10 under mysterious circumstances and then taken out of the country.
The rare sports car built in 1967–1969 spent its last years in a specialized workshop near Naples. The owner of the car was a famous French collector, but after his death, according to Italian media, the widow was under psychological pressure: she was allegedly threatened with ruinous lawsuits.
As a result, the car was re-registered to a fly-by-night company. Formally, Alfa Romeo was sold for only €10 – an amount that in itself does not contradict the law, but raises huge questions among the heirs. They said the deal was illegal and filed a complaint with the Milan prosecutor’s office.
The family’s lawyers claim that after the re-registration, a certain newly created company deregistered the car, declared the license plates lost and took the Alfa Romeo abroad to cover its tracks. Now the car can be located anywhere, and searching for it outside of Italy is extremely difficult.
The heirs have appointed a reward of €100 thousand euros for information that will help find the rarity. They appealed to anyone who knows anything or spots the car to contact lawyers in Naples and Milan. Considering that there are only 18 such cars in the world, it will be difficult to hide the 33 Stradale for a long time, but for now the whereabouts of the rare sports car are a mystery.
