In the past, the Eclipse was associated with a tuned turbo coupe, but now that name has been given to Mitsubishi’s electric car, which is a redesigned Nissan Leaf. Carscoops reports this.
The Eclipse name was passed on from one model to another, having nothing to do with the sports coupe, which was produced from 1989 to 2011. The name first appeared on the Eclipse Cross crossover, and now Mitsubishi has announced a new electric car, the Eclipse Sportback EV, for the North American market.
The new product will become a 2027 model and will go on sale in the second half of this year. However, under the Triple Diamond emblem lies only a slightly updated new generation Nissan Leaf. Those who were hoping for a worthy successor to the original should prepare for disappointment.
