Omoda and Jaecoo are testing “green” new products for Russia

As Izvestia reports, Chinese companies have begun testing new models to adapt them to Russian conditions. It is still unknown when the new Omoda and Jaecoo will go on sale, but it is already clear what kind of models they will be: the brand lines will be replenished with hybrids and electric cars.

Jaecoo already sells J7 and J8 crossovers in Russia. They are currently offered with conventional internal combustion engines, but the brand is already testing hybrid versions. In Russia, the gasoline-electric J7 was photographed a year ago. Jaecoo itself was going to bring hybrids before the end of 2024, but their debut was postponed for unknown reasons.

Jaecoo will also present the electric crossover J6 – also known as Chery iCar 03. In China, the most powerful version of the electric car is equipped with a dual-motor unit producing 278 horsepower.

Omoda is testing the E5 electric car, which is a battery-powered version of the popular C5 crossover. The electric car with a 225-horsepower engine was also delayed on its way to Russia, where it was supposed to debut in the second quarter of 2024. As the brand’s press service explained, this happened due to “changed market conditions.”

Another new product from Omoda in 2025 will be the C7 crossover, the exterior and interior of which have already been declassified. Jaecoo, in addition to hybrids, is going to present the most compact crossover in its line – J5.
