Porsche 911 from metal pipes sold for 25 million rubles

Last week in the UK, a very unusual Porsche left the hammer. For the bright orange steel sculpture inspired by the Porsche 934-the racing version 911-laid out 201 thousand pounds, or 24.4 million in terms of rubles. This is more than the cost of a new sports car of the 2025 model year.

Wheel sculpture on wheels is the creation of the London artist Benedict Radcliffe, who first saw the light at the design week in Milan in 2022. Later she was brought to Beijing and Shanghai, where she became part of the Porsche China exhibition.

The inspiration for Radcliffe was Porsche 934, built in the 1970s on the basis of 911 Turbo. 934 participated in several racing series, including the GT World Challenge Europe, and was released in a 31st copy. The bright orange color of the metal is a reference to the copy with the number of chassis 0167, which wore the Jägermeister livery.

The sculpture is made of 32 mm pipe from soft steel covered with orange powder paint. Steel was processed to repeat as many parts as possible 934, including the rear anti -wing. Scale – 1: 1. The artist also installed the original BBS wheels and English tires.

Porsche 911 often becomes a muse or canvas for artists and designers. For example, last year in the Netherlands they presented a sports car with a painting resembling Russian Gzhel: in this way, the Porsche Netherlands unit celebrated the 75th anniversary. In fact, Livrey refers to the Delfta faience, which appeared in the Dutch city of Delft in the 17th century.
