The new electric Luce drew sharp criticism from the Italian Deputy Prime Minister and the former CEO of Ferrari – both spoke negatively shortly after its presentation, Carscoops reports.
“The new Luce is so ugly that even the Chinese won’t copy it,” said the former Ferrari CEO.
Back in February, iPhone designer Jony Ive warned that the all-electric Ferrari Luce would cause a strong reaction. However, even he probably did not expect how harshly the market would perceive the appearance of the new product. Just a few months ago, experts praised the Luce’s interior for abandoning the excess of touchpads that characterize many other Ferrari models in favor of physical buttons, switches and toggle switches.
Jony Ive’s LoveFrom design agency, which created the look of Luce, did a brilliant job with the interior. But with the exterior it turned out differently. Even the long-time former head of Ferrari, Luca di Montezemolo (chairman and CEO from 1991 to 2014), was dissatisfied with the car’s appearance.
Immediately after the presentation of the Ferrari Luce, the ex-head of the company shared his frank opinion with the Italian publication Askanews. According to him, this is a rare case of Ferrari, which even the Chinese will not want to copy.
The former head of Ferrari said that if he said everything he really thinks, it would harm the company. According to him, Ferrari risks destroying its legend, and he greatly regrets this. He also expressed the hope that at least the prancing horse emblem would be removed from this car. In his opinion, this is definitely a car that the Chinese will not copy from them.
