The interest of Russians in new cars continues to decline rapidly

According to the latest data, from June 9 to 15, the volume of sales of new cars in the country amounted to 15,400 units. This is 34 percent lower than the previous week and almost 40 percent less than in the same period last year. The leaders remain the products of the Russian brand LADA, and almost the entire top 10 best-selling models was occupied by Chinese brands. The Japanese Toyota left the rating, giving way to GAC.

According to industry statistics, Russians continue to lose interest in buying new cars. For a week from June 9 to 15, only 15,400 cars were sold in the country, which means a sharp decrease in demand. Compared to previous seven days, this indicator fell by 34 percent, and compared to a similar week of last year – by 40 percent.

The most popular brand remains Russian LADA, which realized 4265 cars. Next are Chinese brands, such as Haval, Chery, Changan and Geely. None of the other manufacturers managed to overcome the bar in a thousand sold cars. The top ten also included Belgee, Jetour, Gac, Omoda and Solaris. Toyota left the list, and the GAC returned, which was the last time in the top at the end of 2024.

Earlier it became known that sales of new electric vehicles in Russia also decline. According to the Avtostat agency, only 786 new electric cars were implemented in May – this is 28 percent less than in the same month of last year. Despite the drop in demand, the share of electric machines in the total sales was preserved at 0.9 percent. The most popular model in the segment remains ZEEKR 001, supplied to the market for parallel imports.
