The number of auto angles has decreased in Russia

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which is given by Auto.ru, in the first quarter of 2025 in Russia, 2005 cases of theft were recorded in Russia. This is 9.4 percent less than in January-March 2024. At the same time, thefts of cars, when attackers steal the car for sale, on the contrary, became more. Their number increased by 2.5 percent to 975 cases.

Russian hijackers have become more often interested in cars of Chinese manufacturers, according to the Russian Union of Auto Insurance Supervision (RSA). So, according to the results of the first quarter of this year, the theft of the “Chinese” reached the first place in the number of cases. They became more popular among attackers than South Korean cars and AvtoVAZ products.

A decrease in the number of thefts – that is, cases of unlawful seizure of a car without the purpose of its theft – is explained by changes in the market for such machines. The hijacking has become more complicated due to overlapping the border, digitalization and increasing the number of road chambers.

At the same time, experts expect an increase in the number of theft of machines in order to sell on spare parts. Due to the law on taxi localization, the need for inexpensive details for domestic machines will increase.

Earlier it was reported that Toyota Land Cruiser is a favorite car of hijackers in Japan. Interest in it is growing rapidly: in 2024, the Japanese stole 688 such SUVs, although only 383 cases were recorded in 2023. The first three of the most stolen includes two more Toyota models – Alphard and Prius.
