Toyota increased sales in Russia by 102% in February

At the same time, global sales of the Japanese brand in February decreased by 2.3%, in China they fell by 13.9%, the head of Avtostat, Sergei Tselikov, said in his Telegram channel.

According to statistics, in February 1.97 thousand new Toyota and Lexus cars were registered in Russia. This is 102% higher than in February last year, when buyers purchased 976 such cars.

However, as noted, the overwhelming majority of cars sold in Russia – 88% – were produced not in Japan, but in factories in China. Nevertheless, the share of the Russian market in Toyota’s global sales structure remains insignificant and amounts to only 0.25%.

The expert attributes the decline in the company’s global sales to a drop in demand in China, where combined sales of Toyota and Lexus decreased by 13.9%, as well as a slight correction in the Japanese domestic market.
