Volkswagen Group showed four new models for the Chinese market at a preview event ahead of the Beijing Auto Show, Carscoops reports.
Among the new products are the VW ID electric crossovers. Aura T6 (shared with FAW) and VW ID. Unyx 09 (developed with XPeng), as well as the production version of the AUDI E7X from SAIC.
However, the most interesting in terms of price was the Jetta X Concept – an inexpensive electric crossover with a brutal design in the style of Dacia.
It is expected that the production version of the Jetta X, built on the Chinese Compact Main Platform (CMP), will appear at FAW dealers before the end of 2026.
The main intrigue is the expected price: less than 100 thousand yuan (1.1 million rubles at the exchange rate at the time of publication). Jetta is becoming to Volkswagen what Skoda (which is pulling out of China after falling sales) was – a budget brand with an emphasis on affordability.
By 2028, Jetta will launch five new models, four of which will be electrified. Overall, the Volkswagen Group will offer around 50 electrified models in China by 2030, including 30 all-electric models, and plans to launch 20 new electric vehicles as early as 2026.
