Recently, the Bavarian brand introduced the first -born of the NEUE KLASSE family – an electric crossover [iX3](https://motor.ru/news/bmw-ix3-05-09-2025.htm). He demonstrated the new BMW style and, in particular, the departure from one of the most criticized elements – an enlarged radiator grill. However, BMW does not regret anything, and the era of giant “nostrils” is explained by trends in some markets.
Large grilles of the radiator are extremely popular, for example, in China, in an interview with the Australian edition of Carexpert, BMW Group Chief Adrian Van Hoydonka said. According to him, this design decision was not too radical: “It all depends on which country you are in.”
The Bavarians took into account the criticism of the exterior M3, 7 Series, X7 and XM, but the market numbers talked about the opposite: the sales did not fall, but, on the contrary, grew. “Therefore, we did not feel the need to react somehow,” Van Hoydonk said. At the same time, poor demand for XM was reported a year ago, when the model was relatively fresh.
BMW showed the early 5-Series E39 sketches: the design of a completely different BMW XM superhibride lost the initial version with the V8 Motor, the German “Big Troika” in theal: profit fell sharply
Be that as it may, hypertrophied vertical “nostrils” seem to have remained in the past. In 2023, the Vision Neue Klasse concept debuted, the style of which BMW promised to extend to new items.
However, the first serial representative of Neue Klasse – the IX3 electrician – received another version of the “lattice”, with small vertical “teeth” in the center.
