Kia can replace motors with Soul and Seltos due to a serious defect

In the United States, a large -scale review of two models of the Korean brand has been announced – it affects 83,621 Souls and 53,635 SELTOS crossovers released from 2021 to 2023. The reason was a defect in a two-liter four-cylinder engine: it has low-quality piston rings from the Dongsuh Federal-Mogul supplier. This is fraught not only with increased oil consumption, but also by its leak, which can lead to a fire.

Kia learned about the problem at the beginning of the fall of last year. To date, more than 400 incidents that have occurred with Soul and Seltos are known due to the identified problem. In most cases, the engine engine failed, in four situations there was a fire due to oil leakage.

Within the framework of a response campaign initiated by KIA and the National Administration of the US Road Safety, the engine will be checked and, if necessary, the engine is busy. As always in such cases, the repair will be carried out free of charge for the owners.
