No longer SsangYong: Torres, Rexton, Tivoli and Korando want to be assembled in the Russian Federation

The Korean brand SsangYong, which changed its name to KGM, is returning to Russia. As Drom.ru reports, citing unnamed sources, the company Rex Motors, which represents the interests of KGM, is “conducting active negotiations with a production partner on organizing the assembly of cars in the Russian Federation.” It is planned to localize all four models previously confirmed for our market – Torres, Rexton, Tivoli and Korando.

It is still unknown which plant in Russia the negotiations are being conducted with. One way or another, at first all four KGM models will be supplied to us from South Korea, and only then, if agreements are reached with one of the Russian enterprises, large-unit assembly will be launched. At the same time, as Drom.ru writes, Rex Motors is counting on a consistent deepening of localization.

What the KGM Tivoli will be like for Russia: engine and equipment The KGM Torres crossover for Russia has been announced SsangYong is returning: the equipment of the KGM Korando for Russia has been declassified Rexton, but no longer SsangYong: what the SUV returning to Russia will be like

The first batch of KGM cars has already arrived in Russia – there are approximately 800 of these cars, and these are Torres, Rexton, Tivoli and Korando. According to the publication, none of the listed models has yet received vehicle type approval, and it is this document that gives the right to mass sale of cars in the country.

It was previously reported that the main bet is on the Torres crossover – the company hopes that it will account for half of all sales. The second most popular (25 percent) should be Korando, the third – Rexton (20 percent), the fourth – Tivoli (five percent).

Insiders have already revealed prices for all four models, and, according to this information, South Korean crossovers will cost more than their Chinese competitors. So, according to preliminary data, for Tivoli they will ask for 3.4 million rubles, Korando will cost 3.9 million, Torres – 4.6 million, and the most expensive will be the flagship Rexton for 5.6 million rubles.
