The car market in February decreased sharply, showing the worst result since May 2023 – 85.3 thousand sold cars. At the same time, cars continue to rise in price. The average cost of the “Chinese” reached 3.74 million rubles, which is 2.6 percent more than in January, calculated in Avto.ru. Prices also rose for domestic and parallel-import machines.
In February, cars of Russian brands were risen by one percent, up to 1.6 million rubles on average. And most sensitively the price of “gray” foreign cars increased – by 8.4 percent, to 9.4 million.
In a number of regions, however, the average cost of a new car fell. The Ulyanovsk region is the leader among them, where the decrease was 10.4 percent to the average 2.4 million rubles. It is followed by the Orenburg region (-8.8 percent and 2.82 million rubles), Stavropol Territory (-8.8 percent and 2.75 million rubles), Krasnoyarsk (-5.7 percent and 2.58 million rubles) and Krasnodar Territory (-4 percent and 3.36 million rubles).
In Moscow, the indicator expectedly grew up. In February, the average price of a new car in the capital amounted to 5.31 million rubles, which is six percent more than in January. The second place in growth was taken by St. Petersburg with an increase of five percent (3.41 million rubles).

As for the models, Moskvich 3 leads among the cheaper leaders. Its average price decreased by 1.7 percent, to 1.83 million. Kaiyi E5 reduced 4.2 percent (2.1 million rubles), Voyah free – 2 percent (6 million rubles), Voyah Dream – 1.7 percent (9.53 million rubles), Jetta VS5 – 1.5 percent (3.18 million).
