The figure of the day: how many cars were produced by Russian plants in January

According to the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat), over the first month of this year, the volume of production of cars exceeded 54.4 thousand pieces. This is 20.2 percent more than in January 2024, and the best result from the pre-crisis period, that is, from January 2022, when 95.1 thousand cars were produced.

The reason for such a sharp increase in production is the launch of new models of different brands. For example, the Autotor Kaliningrad began to produce BAIC BJ60 SUVs, and AvtoVAZ – a new Vesta modification with a six -speed manual gearbox. At Motorinvest in the Lipetsk region, the Voyah Free and Dream assembly started, and the Sollers ST6 and ST8 pickups began to go from the assembly line in Ulyanovsk.

As for the trucks, their production, on the contrary, sharply decreased at the beginning of 2025 – by 30.8 percent, to 8.9 thousand pieces. Such a monthly indicator has become the lowest since January 2023 (5.8 thousand pieces). Buses permissible maximum mass of more than five tons last month collected only 529 copies – 46.5 percent less than in the same month a year earlier.

Finally, the production of bodies for vehicles in January decreased by 11.1 percent, to 2.4 thousand units.

Compared to the results of December 2024, the production indicators of the auto industry in January 2025 have decreased significantly. In particular, the influence on this is traditionally exerted by long New Year holidays.
