Tire production in Russia grew in 2024

Over the year, 34.5 million tires were produced in the country, Kommersant reports with reference to the Center for the Development of Promising Technologies – the Operator of the Family marking system. This is 13 percent more than a year earlier, and the best result from 2022. However, the industry still does not reach the level of 2021, and in 2025 she was declining after the automobile market.

The volume of production of summer tires increased by 21.4 percent to 14.67 million pieces. 12.83 million (+8 percent) were produced by winter hung tires, and 5.02 million (+2.3 percent), and all -season – 1.37 million (+11.4 percent) were produced. Import is also growing: 25.83 million tires were brought into Russia over the year – 18 percent more than in 2023.

Sales increased by 27.5 percent, to 173.5 billion rubles. Analysts note that Russians often buy tires of new sizes: so, if earlier there were tires with a diameter of 16 or 17 inches for budget Hyundai and Kia, now larger, larger, suitable for Chinese crossovers are popular.

The goal is to force manufacturers to comply with the requirements for the maximum permissible level of hazardous substances in the composition of rubber. Up to 40 percent of foreign tires do not correspond to GOST and are dangerous, the ministry noted.
