Volkswagen Crossover Crossbreak has become one of the bestsellers of class

According to the results of 2024, the T-ROC Convertible was dispersed by a circulation of 10.7 thousand copies and managed to win silver in the European Cabiolets segment. An unusual Volkswagen lost only “open” versions of Mini One/Cooper, but ahead of all two-door accents: behind the Porsche 911 (8.1 thousand pieces), BMW 4-Series (7.2 thousand), Mazda MX-5 (7.2 thousand) 6.4 thousand) and BMW Z4 (5.5 thousand).

The statistics take into account not only the 27 countries of the European Union, but also the UK, and the Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Liechtenstein, which are part of the European Association of Free Trade, Switzerland. In 2025, Audi A5/S5 and Porsche 718 Boxster, which occupied the eighth and ninth lines, would be excluded from the rating of convertibles. Insiders also suggest that the BMW will soon resign Z4.

The successes of the Volkswagen T-ROC convertible allowed to extend the life cycle of the model. Initially, the compact crossover planned to be removed from the market in 2025, but in the end the production will continue until 2027, that is, the model will last ten years on the conveyor. In general, the demand for convertibles in Europe is falling: for example, Mercedes-Benz has excluded three models from the line over the past three years (SLC, AMG GT Roadster and S-Class Cabriolet).

Although the crossover-cabriolet seems to be a successful format against the backdrop of the success of ordinary all-terrain vehicles, in fact, only Volkswagen T-ROC manages to stay afloat stably. The development of open versions of Nissan Murano and Range Rover Evoque turned out to be a commercial failure, and new players in this class are not visible.
