Xiaomi revealed the amount of losses from sales of its first electric car SU7

In the first quarter of 2025, the losses in the automobile unit amounted to 500 million yuan. Despite this, the company increases the volume of supplies and expects income in the coming months. Xiaomi is sure that with the expansion of production, the losses on each electric car will continue to decline. In the future, the rate is made on the second model – the Yu7 crossover.

Xiaomi Corporation submitted reports for the first quarter of 2025, which marks an increase in the revenue of the automobile direction up to 18.6 billion yuan. However, the business is still unprofitable: each SU7 sold sedan costs the company to minus about 6,500 yuan, or about $ 900. In the first three months of the year, Xiaomi handed over to customers about 76 thousand such cars.

The Xiaomi Yu7 Xiaomi crossover showed a crossover interior with a thin display, as in BMW Xiaomi asks half a million rubles for the “nostrils” for SU7 Ultra. But it’s just a decor

The head of the company Lou Webing emphasized that the automobile project is still at an early stage of development, and the losses will be reduced as the production is scaled. In 2024, the average losses for the car were about $ 9,200, which means that in less than a year the company has already reduced them by almost ten times. Weibin also said that interest in the new model – the Yu7 crossover – approximately three times exceeds the demand for SU7 at a comparable stage of launch.

Earlier it became known that Xiaomi changed the power restriction policy for the flagship electric car SU7 Ultra. Previously, the peak power of 1548 horsepower was available only after passing special training on certified racing tracks. Under normal conditions, the car worked with a limit of 900 forces. After numerous customer complaints, the company decided to abandon such requirements.
