Moskvich first sold more electric cars in Russia than Zeekr

The unique situation has developed in the market of new electric cars at the end of 2024: the leader was replaced in the segment. According to Avtostat, Moskvich for the first time since the revival took first place in terms of sales of electric vehicles, and even with just one model, the Moskvich 3e crossover. At the same time, the demand for parallel-imported Electricians Zeekr decreased, and the brand took second place.

For December 2024, the Russians bought 447 new Moskvich 3e electric crossovers – 10.6 times more than last year’s result. In the last month of the year, 443 Russians chose ZEEEKR electric cars, which corresponds to a decrease in sales by 54 percent compared to December 2023. At the same time, Avtostat notes that such a sharp increase in Moskvich 3e sales is due to the procurement of domestic electrical combinants by legal entities.

In the first five of the most popular stamps of electric vehicles in Russia, in addition to Moskvich and Zeekr, the Chinese Ora (86 pcs), domestic Evolute (75 pcs) and American Tesla (40 pcs) were hit. Of the five brands listed, only three work officially in the country – Moskvich, Ora and Evolute.

Earlier it was reported that over the past year, the sales of new electric cars in Russia exceeded 17.8 thousand pieces – this is the best result over the past 10 years. At the same time, growth rates in the segment slowed down, and the share of electric carriers decreased from 1.3 percent in 2023 to 1.1 percent in 2024.
