The Russian automobile market will not return to the indicators of 2024 in 2026

Even in the case of income growth and affordable cars, analysts predict a reduction in sales in 2025. According to “Trust Technologies”, to restore the volume of 1.57 million cars, it will take at least two years. With an unfavorable economy, the fall can be up to 19 percent, and by the end of the decade, the market will only come close to the dodemic values ​​- about 2.25 million cars per year.

As follows from the forecast of analysts of trust technology, the market for cars in Russia will be able to reach the level of 2024 only by the end of 2026. In their opinion, regardless of economic conditions, 2025 will end with a decline. Three possible scenarios for the development of the situation are considered: basic, pessimistic and stabilizing. All of them suggest a drop in sales in the coming year.

In the basic version, with an increase in income and a moderate increase in prices, the market will decrease by 7 percent – from 1.57 million cars to 1.46 million. The pessimistic scenario involves a drop in up to 1.27 million cars against the background of a weak ruble and a high key rate. The optimistic forecast includes a decrease in the rate and an increase in the number of available models – in this case, in 2026, sales reached 1.64 million, and by 2030 – 2.25 million cars.

The day before, fresh data on the current situation in the market became known. From June 9 to 15, the Russians purchased 15,400 new cars – this is 34 percent less than a week earlier, and almost 40 percent lower than last year. Among the best-selling machines, Lada brand products are still leading, but most of the TOP-10 is occupied by Chinese cars. The Japanese Toyota finally left the list of leaders, giving way to the GAC brand.
