The volume of cars of cars in Russia continues to fall

In May 2025, 54.9 thousand cars were brought into the country, calculated in Avtostat. There are only 17.8 thousand new ones, which is 74 percent less than a year earlier. Import sank noticeably and by April 2025-by 47 percent. This is due to the main reduction in the import of Chery and Geely, as well as the establishment of local industries.

The leader in import among new cars is Changan, and among the models-the Changan UNI-S crossover. Most of the cars are brought from China – 71.1 percent. Another 9.1 percent came from Kyrgyzstan, 7.2 percent from South Korea.

More used cars arrive than new ones: in May 37.1 thousand were imported. This is 23 percent more than in May 2024. And the indicator of April 2025 is almost the same-37.2 thousand units. Toyota is leading among the brands here, and in the modeling rating – compactwane Honda Freed.

The used cars are most often carried from Japan, South Korea and China. The share of Japan was 46 percent, Korea – 24.5 percent, China – 13.1 percent. At the same time, not only the “Chinese”, but also the machines of global brands are imported from the PRC.

Import falls and expensive foreign cars. From January to April 2025, 27 thousand new premium and luxury machines were imported in the Russian Federation – 56 percent less than the same period of last year.
